NHLS Quality Assurance

The National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) provides high quality services by benchmarking against international standards, through accreditation of laboratories, and conducting external quality assessment and internal quality control, through the evaluation of proficiency testing performance and the analysis of assayed control materials on all patient samples.

QA Division

The Quality Assurance Division is entrusted with the responsibility of setting and implementing policy with regard to research, quality assurance and accreditation of laboratories.

Proficiency Testing

Proficiency testing (also known as external quality assessment) is the evaluation of laboratory testing performance by means of inter-laboratory comparisons where the same items are tested by different laboratories.

Health and Safety

Health & Safety is a sub-division of the Quality Assurance Division and functions to ensure that all employees of the NHLS have a safe and healthy working environment.
