Mr Sebastian Gelderbloem

Mr Sebastian Gelderbloem is a visionary leader with over 30 years of experience in laboratory and clinical research, stakeholder engagement, and operational management. He is currently Deputy Director for Stakeholder Engagement at the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness (Metro Health Services), where he drives strategies that strengthen collaboration and impact across the health system. His career began in clinical laboratory science at Groote Schuur Hospital and the University of Cape Town, where he managed major research and infrastructure projects. He later advanced into global health as Managing Director and Head of Laboratory Capacity Development at Aeras South Africa, contributing to TB vaccine research and international collaboration.

Mr Gelderbloem founded the AfrA Foundation NPC, reflecting his commitment to youth and social development, and has consulted internationally with the Global Health Network at Oxford University. He holds an MBA and degrees in Philosophy and Biomedical Technology, and is guided by values of mentorship, resilience, and lifelong learning.
