The pathology departments and laboratories of the medical schools of the universities of Cape Town, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo (MEDUNSA Campus), Pretoria, Stellenbosch, Witwatersrand, Walter Sisulu University for Technology and Science and the Oral Pathology Department of the University of the Western Cape form part of the NHLS and are involved in research, teaching and training and the provision of diagnostic services to the hospitals in which they teach their students.
